February 2005Parametric Stereo inventor story
jeroen breebaart inventor story on Parametric Stereo

Parametric Stereo is a technique for an extremely bit-efficient representation of stereo audio signals, developed at Philips in cooperation with Coding Technologies. It employs Spatial Audio Coding (SAC) techniques to provide unsurpassed compression efficiency. It is currently standardized as part of aacPlus v2 in MPEG-4 and the next generation standard for mobile communication, 3GPP.
